Paul Kaye is a language officer at the European Commission Representation in the UK, responsible for helping to promote multilingualism, language learning and the language professions (especially translation) in the United Kingdom. The job involves organising events, speaking at schools and universities and reporting to Brussels on UK language policy developments. The post is a secondment from the Commission's translation service, where Paul was previously a staff translator working from Slovak, Czech, Polish, Hungarian and French into English. Before this he spent a decade as a journalist specialising in EU environment policy.
